This is From The Barstool To The Beach and my name is Charlie J Lofus.

I spent a large part of my life slumped against a bar, drinking my life away whilst dreaming of a brighter future. That future became a reality when I finally gave up alcohol. My first goal was to pay off the debt I had accrued from drinking. Slowly, I managed to clear the debt. The freedom of sobriety and no longer having the debt hanging over me enabled me to attempt my long held dreams.

The first was the El Camino de Santiago and this blog gets it’s name from the fact I managed to get myself off a bar stool and hike 600 miles to the coast of Spain.

Since walking the El Camino, I have visited many other places I once only dreamed about; Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat, Yosemite, Taj Mahal and Nepal. This blog is the story of how I made it happen.
